CFA Miami announces 2008 Scholarship recipients

 

Ms. Kimberly Ann Galambos, a Level III candidate, is currently a University of Miami MBA candidate and portfolio analyst at US Trust, a subsidiary of Bank of America.  Kimberly is an affiliate member of the CFA Institute and responsible for portfolio maintenance and strategic investment action plans at US Trust. 

 

Mr. Ashish N. Brahmbhatt, a Level I candidate, holds a MS in Finance from Florida International University and most recently completed an internship with EFG Capital International Corp in compliance.  Ashish is fluent in Gujarati and holds a BA from the University of Miami in Chemistry.   

 

Alejandro Miguel Guardiola, a Level I candidate, is currently a Florida International University MS Finance candidate and Technical Analyst for UBS in Coral Gables , Florida .  Mr. Guardiola holds Series 7, 66, and 3 Licenses and is responsible for portfolio strategy implementation and modeling in association with the UBS Chief Technical Analyst. 

 

Javier Beltran, a Level I candidate, is Defined Contribution/401K Manager for ADP TotalSource Group, Inc. in Miami , Florida .  Javier holds a BA from Loyola University and has a interest in risk assessment and fundamental valuation.  Previously Javier worked for H&R Block, and Freedom Financial.  

 

Mr. Maurice Bijo , a Level III candidate, is a resident of Panama and fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian.  Maurice completed a MS of Science in Administration at HEC-Montreal and recently held various positions at HSBC Bank of Panama .   Maurice is attempting to form a CFA Society in Panama as well. 

 

Mr. Philip Maywah, a Level I candidate, holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and currently serves as an analyst for Alexander Alternative Capital, a global macro hedge fund.  Philip also was a MBNA scholar, awarded by MBNA Marketing Systems Inc. of Boca Raton , Florida .

Scholarships for Candidates

CFA Miami is pleased to offer scholarships for candidates sitting for the CFA Exams. Please read the award description carefully as there are different criteria for each scholarship:

 1. CFA Institute Exam Registration Scholarships - All Candidates

This scholarship is awarded by CFA Miami to deserving CFA Candidates on behalf of CFA Institute.

Who is Eligible?

All CFA Program Candidates (both CFA Miami members and non-members);

If applicant is a student, he/she must be in the final undergraduate year and scheduled to receive a Bachelor's degree (degree must be confirmed in writing to CFA Institute upon receipt before a candidate can progress to Level II)  

What is the Award?

This scholarship will waive the Registration fee and all but $150 of the Enrollment fee.

Notes:

--Winners will be responsible for the $150 fee.

--The scholarship does not cover costs of curriculum books or other CFA program materials.

Note:

In total, there are 10 awards available per each fiscal year, which runs from beginning of July - end of June. Information regarding the June 2008 awards will be posted at a later date.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualify for exam registration as a CFA Candidate

Complete a scholarship application

Experience and/or interest in the investment profession, ethical standards, and commitment to CFA Miami and CFA Institute

 Process

1. Candidates must complete and fax the scholarship form by the due date posted in the announcement.
