Michael A. Dribin, Partner in the Miami office of Broad and Cassel, will discuss the current status of the estate tax, related transfer tax laws, and carryover basis. He will provide a review of the ten-year estate tax legislation, and 2009 discussion of reform ("How did we get in this mess?"); the status of the estate tax, generation-skipping tax, carryover basis laws, as they exist today ("Where are we?"); and prospects for reform of 2010 law and permanent reform beyond that ("Where are we going?"). In addition, Mr. Dribin will discuss potential planning opportunities in light of repeal in 2010, and provide information about how we should be advising our clients.
